Caleb's Landscaping & Excavating: Rooted in Union Grove, Built for North Alabama

Our Story: From a Single Truck to a Trusted Excavation Company

Caleb's Landscaping & Excavating started the way a lot of good companies in this part of the state do: with one man, one piece of equipment, and a determination to do right by his neighbors. Working out of Union Grove, AL, Caleb built his reputation one job at a time, clearing overgrown lots, grading driveways, and helping families reclaim yards that had been neglected for years.

As word spread through Marshall and Madison counties, the work grew from small residential cleanups into full-scale land clearing, excavating, and hardscaping projects. Today, Caleb's Landscaping & Excavating operates as a full-service excavation company and landscaping company, but the values that started this business on a small plot of land in Union Grove haven't changed.

We still show up when we say we will. We still treat every property, whether it's a quarter-acre yard or fifty acres of pasture, like it matters. That approach has carried our excavation contractor and grading company work through hundreds of projects across north Alabama.

How We Work

Our Approach to Land Clearing, Grading, and Landscape Installation

Every property we touch gets the same level of care, no matter the size of the job. We believe in doing dirt work right the first time, because rework costs our customers money and time they don't have.

Here's what guides our work on every site:

  • Honest assessments before any land clearing or grading services begin, no surprise costs
  • Right-sized equipment for the job, from compact machines for tight residential lots to heavy equipment for acreage clearing
  • Attention to drainage solutions and yard grading so water problems don't show up six months later
  • Clean, professional job sites throughout the project, not just at the end
  • Respect for existing trees, shrub installation, and landscaping features the property owner wants to keep
  • Clear communication from the first site visit through final walkthrough

Why Choose Us

Why North Alabama Property Owners Trust Caleb's

Homeowners and landowners across Union Grove, Huntsville, and the surrounding communities choose Caleb's Landscaping & Excavating because we back our work with real equipment, real experience, and real accountability. Here's what that looks like on the ground.

The Right Equipment for Every Job

We invest in excavators, skid steers, forestry mulching heads, and grading equipment built to handle everything from brush clearing on a small lot to acreage clearing on rural land. That means fewer subcontractors and faster timelines for our customers.

Years of Hands-On Experience

We've cleared overgrown land, graded home sites, installed drainage solutions, and built retaining walls across dozens of north Alabama properties. That experience shows in how our excavation contractor team plans a job before the first shovel of dirt moves.

Workmanship That Holds Up

Grading, drainage, and hardscaping only work if they're done correctly the first time. We take the extra time on compaction, slope, and base prep so the finished product, whether it's a patio installation or a sodded yard, lasts through Alabama's seasons.

Local Roots in Union Grove and the Surrounding Communities

Caleb's Landscaping & Excavating calls Union Grove home, and that local connection shapes how we run every project. We understand the clay-heavy soil common around Marshall and Madison counties, the drainage challenges that come with the rolling terrain near Guntersville Lake, and the seasonal rainfall patterns that affect grading and erosion control throughout the region.

That local knowledge matters when you're planning site preparation, forestry mulching, or a new outdoor living space. We know which areas around Arab and Albertville tend to hold water, which lots near Huntsville and Madison need extra grading company attention because of new development, and how rural properties out toward Grant and Lacey's Spring often need more aggressive brush removal before any landscape installation can begin.

Beyond Union Grove, our crews regularly work in Huntsville, Decatur, Madison, Athens, Cullman, Guntersville, Arab, Hartselle, Scottsboro, Boaz, Owens Cross Roads, New Hope, Gurley, Priceville, Grant, Lacey's Spring, Hampton Cove, and Falkville. Wherever the job is, we bring the same local know-how and the same commitment to getting it done right.

UPDATE: We Recently Upgraded Our Pond Overflow from the Two 24" x 60' Double Wall HDPE Tubes Caleb originally installed, to a CEMENT 12' x 60' Spillway, to better handle the Notorious Flooding Downpours that come our way. We couldn't be happier with the results. As always Caleb & crew did a beautiful job!!! The earthen dam for our pond was blown out a few years ago, and we are so glad we stayed with our decision to hire locally. Caleb listens, and is professional, personable, knowledgeable, flexible, and honest! He has built a business that provides responsive customer service. As we walked the pond’s bank with the owner of Caleb’s Landscaping and Excavating, we pointed out a seasonal streambed and a recent additional trouble spot, that needed heightened consideration, due to excessive sediment and trenched scour that floods into the pond along the northern boundary. Caleb came up with a game plan that we liked, but one which also allowed for the unexpected. He and his crew took on the challenge; working long, hard days even as the sun sets, but always with customer satisfaction in mind! If you want a responsive company to do Dirt Work or a variety of landscape related projects, hire this guy, you will not be disappointed.

The Governor

We were truly blessed to come across the services of Caleb and his awesome crew. I just happened to locate him in an internet search and was pleased that I was in his coverage area. He scheduled a date to come out fairly quickly and look over our project and provided an estimate within a week. I hired him to clear approximately an acre of woods and to prep a building site and pour concrete for a steel building that a company in Mississippi was coming to put up. I can't think of a time that I've been more pleased with any work I've had done. Caleb provided outstanding communication throughout the process and his employees were very friendly, personable, and talented. The foundation and the concrete slab were to exact specifications and the building went up without a hitch when they came. Even more impressive was the forest mulching job they did in the woods. It was hard to locate any stumps at all left when they finished and Caleb performed some surgical precision, bringing down some rather large pine trees in among some clusters of hardwood trees we wanted to keep. If you are in need of some concrete work or forest mulching, I do not hesitate to recommend Caleb's Landscaping and Excavating, LLC. Many thanks to him and his crew.

I used Caleb's Landscaping to clear some land for a fence install, brush/tree removal, move my driveway, create a gravel patio, and redirect water away from my house. I worked a good amount with Caleb directly and one of his employees named Major. Both were professional and friendly to deal with. Caleb was good to follow up with any questions I had concerning the project. Since this was a two part project, they were both willing to meet with my fence guy to work together regarding what I needed/wanted. I would definitely recommend them. I love the results and the patio turned out better than I could have imagined. (Thanks Major and Roger!)

I had Caleb do some mowing and mulching of the undergrowth on a portion of some wooded property. It was so choked with briars and privett and small trees that you couldn't even walk through it without getting stuck or poked by millions of thorns. He did an excellent job of opening up a large portion of the forest in a days work. In fact he was able to do much more in a day than he origianlly quoted which was a nice surprise. The property looks a hundred times better than it did and now we can walk through our property and enjoy the forest. Thanks Caleb!

Caleb and team cut and mulched a walking trail through our property and cleared out some brush and undergrowth along the creeks. It was not an easy task. We couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

I putchased an 11 acre semi wooded property. I needed a road, a shop pad, a house oad, and an AL DOT compliant entrence way. After having difficulties with my first excavation company i hired Caleb and his filks to do the job. Unfortunately, none of the original work could he used, but Caleb and his team did an amazing job of fixing what had been done incorrectly and creating my wife and my dream propety. He worked diligently with my wife and i to ensure the building locations were appropriate for the property and water drainage, leading to a home site that i am very happy with. Work included creating building pads, creating roads, managing acres worth of runoff, and culvert design and installation. I recommend Caleb to anyone needing dirt work of any kind
